Norman native and local CPA Bree Montoya is running for Norman City Council in Ward 3.

Bree was born and raised in Norman. Her mother, Pam Warren, co-owned a store in Sooner Fashion Mall. Her dad, Jack Warren, was a patrolman for the Norman Police Department and insurance counselor.

"Dad pulled three people from a fire downtown on Main Street in 1972. He died the day before my 7th birthday, but I've worked to build upon his legacy of professionalism, respect for others, and service to our neighbors. I believe these are the values we need on our City Council, not partisan politics."

Montoya's platform includes fiscal transparency, forward thinking economic development, public transit, and flood and pollution prevention. 

"Partisanship and name-calling have overtaken the actual work of our City government. Fiscal decisions are not receiving the proper analysis and transparency that taxpayers deserve. With so many empty retail shops, we must be more creative in development, embrace green spaces, and turn away from last century cookie cutter development that plagues so many interstate communities. As our City grows, our traffic slows and stormwater carries pollution into our waterways. We don't have time for political games; it's time for a change." 

Bree Montoya is the manager of the business valuation and litigation support department at Gray, Blodgett & Company, PLLC, with more than 14 years of accounting experience. She holds a Bachelors of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from OU and an Associate’s degree from Rose State in Legal Assistance. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Oklahoma, Accredited in Business Valuation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a Certified Valuation Analyst. She currently serves as President of the Norman Chapter of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs.

As a volunteer, Bree currently serves on the Norman Forward Citizens Financial Oversight Board. She's previously served Norman Music Festival as chair and treasurer, Norman Arts Council, Jazz in June, and is a graduate of the Norman Police Department's Citizens Police Academy. Recreationally, Bree is a crossfit enthusiast, enjoys walks through Ward 3 with her daughter and her dog, and is part of a book club that sponsors a tiny home in McKown Village.  

"When my dad served our community, he treated everyone with respect because he had respect for himself. Regardless of party or background, I will listen and show professionalism to every resident of Ward 3. I'll do the hard work, study our City's budget, and serve Ward 3 in a way of which you can be proud. I humbly ask for your vote."
